***We only adopt our dogs to families living in the Dallas/Ft Worth Metro area***
Meet Luna. We believe she is a 4-month-old dalmatian mix puppy. She currently weighs approximately 15 lbs. and we expect her to grow into a medium to large adult.
Luna has a very unique special need, she is deaf. This is her story.
My foster mom found me while she was on another pupper rescue! It was on Strawberry Moon weekend about 9pm way out in the country. It is usually really dark outside, but because the moon was so bright that night, she saw me! The last thing I remembered was snuggling with my brothers and sisters really close to my mom. They all of a sudden, I was dumped all by myself and was so scared. I didn’t know what to do. I tried crying but no one came. I just sat there on the side of the road waiting…. for her! The moment she saw me she stopped and whisked me up in her arms. I was safe!
She took me home and I got a nice warm bath. Oh, it felt good to be all clean. Then I got the best meal I have ever had, she made me some yummy chicken and broth. I am so thankful for her, I know I am safe here with her and my foster sisters and brother, also Mitts the Kitty Kat. Yes, I am learning that cats are okay and belly rubs and back scratches are the best!
Since that night, I have come a long way and I love life! Some of my favorite things include playing in the yard, chewing and chasing sticks, going on walks and, most of all, treats. I am also still a puppy and I like to sleep. If I am not zooming around you will be sure to find me zonked out in my crate. My crate is my safe space and where I have my bed.
My foster mom is working with me and my training. It is a bit fun and challenging at the same time, as you see, I am deaf. Every once in a while, there is a really high sound that I hear but otherwise, I need to be taught thru other sources like hand language, lights at night when I am outside and constant eye contact. That allows me to try and understand that you need my attention and I need to practice focusing what you are saying to me. I am trying so hard because I really want to please my people. My forever family will be so proud of me when they meet me!
