Canine Soulmates was contacted about a puppy at an area shelter with a badly shattered leg that looked as if it needed to be amputated. One of our fosters stepped up to take in Lucy, and we immediately got her to a specialty surgical vet for another opinion. That vet thought Lucy’s leg could be saved but couldn’t guarantee it. The cost was a lot more than to amputate, but we wanted to give Lucy a life with four legs if that was possible. Two successful surgeries and more than $3,000 later, and with some wonderful TLC from her foster, Lucy was walking, then running around her yard with just a slight limp. As time has gone on, this precious girl has only gotten stronger. Now, Lucy is adopted — and yes, that’s her running an agility course and loving it! We’re so glad we went the extra mile for Lucy.
